Emergency Crews from both West Kelowna and Kelowna are working hard in an effort to lower the current water levels of the Green Bay channel.
From pumping and sandbagging to building temporary dams, crews are pulling out all the stops to keep from evacuating residents living in the Green Bay road area.
The homes and infrastructure in the area are surrounded by water that comes from both the channel and Okanagan Lake, so it is taking quick thinking on the city's part to lower levels and protect the area.
KelownaNow set out to learn more about the current state of the area, what preventative measures crews are taking and how residents should be preparing.
