A Kelowna brewery celebrated its birthday over the weekend, while another will do the same later this week.
Both Barn Owl Brewing and Vice & Virtue Brewing will celebrate those milestones with fun summer events.
A beloved spot in the Mission, Barn Owl turned five years old on Saturday, July 6, and the brewery marked the occasion by announcing a date for a Birthday Bash Parking Lot Party.
The party itself is still a ways out, as it will happen on Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon until 8 pm.
There will be live music, food trucks, games, prizes and more, with owners Gary and Tim on the taps from 4-6 pm and Little Tokyo Ramen on site from 4 pm until they sell out.
For the brewery’s loyal patrons, the most exciting part of the birthday party might be the prices, as Barn Owl will turn back the clock and charge what they did five years ago for beer.
“We could not be more proud or more thankful,” said a social media post. “With the amazing support of our community and the hard work of our team, we know we have something very special, and we are filled with gratitude.”
The celebration at Vice & Virtue will come much sooner, as the brewery will mark its sixth birthday on Thursday, July 11, with a party on Saturday, July 13.
The brewery says there will be “cold beer, delicious food and endless fun,” at the event that runs from 11 am until 11 pm.
There will also be a bouncy house and face painting for the kids, as well as a giant inflatable slide that both kids and adults can enjoy.
Another cool element of Vice & Virtue’s birthday celebrations will come in the form of a sea can.
The brewery wants people to help paint the sea can on Saturday, calling it a community art project that will “spice up” their back patio.
So mark July 13 and Aug. 25 down on your calendar and drop by Vice & Virtue and Barn Owl to help the two popular Kelowna breweries celebrate another successful year in business!
