Every foodie’s favorite run is returning once again. Aspire Health’s Hungry Hungry Half Marathon will hit the AppleBowl for its third year in a row this June.
The annual fundraising event debuted back in 2016 and has since raised over $11,000 in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank.
“We want to help and promote a healthy, active community for everyone, regardless of their situation,” said race coordinator, Sarah Carson.
“Food is something that can bring people and families together. By supporting the Food Bank, we feel we are also supporting healthy family structures,” added Shane Pizzey, of Aspire Health, the event’s title sponsor.
This fun and challenging race offers up something for everyone, from a 21 km or 10 km run to a leisurely 5 km walk, with all routes equipped for stroller access.
For 2018, the Hungry Half has stepped things up a notch by becoming a brick event. This means that attendees who are gearing up to tackle a triathlon will have the option to participate in the Saturday event, as well as bike a route on Sunday for an extra challenge.
Not only do most runners dress up like their favourite foods, but they get to eat them along the way! En Route, participants will have their spirits lifted with great tunes, cheer stations and even a few sweet treats, like cupcakes and freezies, to help them along.
The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 a.m. Registration is open online now.
