Kelowna RCMP continue to investigate torched election sign

The investigation continues into an election sign that was set on fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A sign for Bobby Kennedy, one of the city’s four mayoral candidates, was spotted in flames around 6:45 a.m.

The RCMP arrived on the scene at Eldorado Road and Lakeshore Drive, but the fire was already out.

“Officers attended the scene and the fire had burned out without any further damage to other property,” said Cst. Lesley Smith.

“It was apparent that the sign had been deliberately set on fire and therefore our investigation continues as we look for a suspect.”

Kelowna RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it to contact them at 250-762-3300.

You can also report tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
