A Kelowna business is reeling after an early-morning break-in that saw several valuable pieces of merchandise stolen.
According to Kelowna Rocks & Gems owner Remy Kesslar, the store’s alarm woke them up at 5:30 am this morning as the break-in was underway.
Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do as the thieves smashed the front door and departed with the stolen product in just a couple of minutes.
“Sadly, they stole our large amethyst cathedral, along with another large amethyst piece and lots of smaller crystals and rocks,” Kesslar explained. “The two amethyst pieces are very unique and hopefully we can track them down.”
She says it was two men who drove up in a dark-blue, four-door SUV, which police have since confirmed is a Hyundai Tucson.
The vehicle’s rear licence plate was not legible through the security footage and there was no front licence plate, she adds.
“They were wearing gloves, hats and masks, so we cannot make out any features,” Kesslar said of the thieves. “This was definitely a targeted job.”
Both the RCMP and Kesslar are hoping that the public might be able to provide information that leads to the suspects’ arrest.
Anyone with information, including dash cam or surveillance footage from the 1100 block of Gordon Avenue between 5:30-5:45 am this morning, is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2025-1645.
