Dog lovers and craft beer aficionados will be pleased to hear a new business is moving forward in Kelowna's north end.
On Tuesday night, city council unanimously supported a liquor license for Unleashed Brewing Company on Clement Avenue.
Owners intend to construct a 99 seat indoor facility along with a 30 person capacity outdoor patio.
Despite a recommendation from RCMP to close an hour earlier, council gave the green light to serve until 11 pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
"The greatest noise on that road will be the heavy industrial trucks, much more so than the brewery," said councilor Charlie Hodge.
"And dog-nabbit I’m looking forward to seeing it!"
Once fully constructed, the craft brewery will be offering people a dog-friendly and family-friendly space.
"We are excited to join the neighbourhood and be amongst some amazing craft breweries," said Ashton with Unleashed Brewing.
"We certainly aim to keep our space family friendly which of course includes bringing along those K9 buddies as we wish to be as dog friendly as possible. It is our goal to develop a space that is comfortable for everyone. Even if you don't plan to bring your dog along, we've got a seat for you!"
The supported license recommendation will now be forwarded to the Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch for final approval.
