(UPDATE: March 27 @ 5:15 pm) - Tonight's first ever Stay At Home Gala in Kelowna hasn't even begun and it's already been a huge success.
With a fundraising goal of $10,000, the event raised $16,612 in just three days, so the goal has been doubled to $20,000 and is expected to be reached easily.
"The positive response we have received is a testament to our community's values," said event organizer Drew Vincent.
"We have had companies and people from across the Okanagan reach out and ask, 'how can we help?'"
As another bonus, Barney Bentall will join the already stacked lineup of speakers and musicians, which is headlined by keynote speaker Lane Merrifield.

(Original story: March 25 @ 6:45 pm) - A first-of-its-kind event will bring the Kelowna community together this weekend, but no one will even have to leave their homes.
The Stay At Home Gala, presented by Valley First, will take place on Friday at 7 pm and it’ll feature almost all the elements of a gala you might be familiar with.
Lane Merrifield will headline a group of musicians and speakers that includes Shane Nolan, Rawle James, Nicole Rustad, Shane Lapp, Neil Pretty and emcee Robert Fine.
There will also be a silent auction, an optional dinner delivered to the front door of your home and plenty more.
“We have decided to call it social distancing at its finest,” says Drew Vincent, event lead.
“Dress up, log on and join the Okanagan community for dinner. Whether you’re pulling ramen from the pantry or choosing one of our local businesses to deliver to your door, this is the first-ever soiree with social distancing at its core.”
Not only will the event support local businesses through the dinner delivery and silent auction aspects, but money will also be raised for the Okanagan Foundation.
