Kelowna has lost a very precious member of the community. Robbie, the fluffy black poodle and face of Pulp Fiction Coffee House, has passed away.
The owners of the local hot spot shared the heartbreaking news via Facebook on Saturday morning.
“We have lost our precious Robbie. He passed away at 4 a.m. this morning.” reads the post.
According to Pulp Fiction owner, and Robbie's best friend, Max Sloan, the 10-year-old poodle had been sick for the past week.
Even though the beloved poodle wasn't feeling well, he still loved coming into work, says Sloan.
"It was Friday, and at about 2 a.m. he started crying," said Sloan with tear-filled eyes. "So I got up and grabbed a pillow and blanket, and laid on the floor beside him and he died at 4 a.m."
Hailed as Kelowna's hardest working pup, Robbie wore his title with pride as he worked a full shift each day by Sloan's side.
Robbie was also an extremely well-behaved companion, and he stayed at the shop seven days a week without barking, and was always friendly with the customers.
"He wanted to be here," says Sloan.
The friendly pup would have turned 11-years-old this coming July. Since sharing the news, the community has had an outpouring of condolences to the Pulp Fiction family, sharing photos and their favourite memories of visiting with Robbie.
Sloan says that the community support he's received since breaking the news has been helpful as he grieves the loss of a long time friend.
"I’m overwhelmed. I knew he was loved but I had no idea the extent of it.”
Gone, but never forgotten, Robbie’s legacy as Kelowna’s hardest working pup will live on through the countless smiles he painted on faces, photos he posed for, and of course, Robbie Rare Books and Pulp Fiction Coffee House.
