Kelowna woman’s puppy stolen during walk near Knox Mountain

A desperate search is on for a puppy who was stolen while on a walk with her owner late Saturday night.

According to the Kelowna RCMP, the local woman was walking one-year-old Lulu on Royal Pine Drive, in the Knox Mountain area, around 9:15 pm.

Suddenly, a grey car pulled up beside the woman and Lulu, who is described as a mixed breed that is white in colour.

Police say a “middle-aged, bald, Caucasian male” got out of the vehicle and chatted briefly with Lulu’s owner before unhooking the dog’s leash, scooping her up, getting back in the car and fleeing.

“We are hoping to reunite Lulu with her rightful owner,” said Sgt. Laura Pollock, who encouraged anyone with information on the dog’s whereabouts to contact police.

Lulu’s owner told the RCMP that she purchased the puppy around a month ago from a previous owner who has since moved out of Kelowna.

In a social media post, the daughter of Lulu’s owner said the stolen dog was wearing a pink collar with a tag and is microchipped.

“I am horrified and disgusted that someone would do this,” she added.
