While the Little Hobo Soup and Sandwich Shop remains closed to the public, the owners are planning to make a temporary move to a different downtown location.
It’s been over a month since Little Hobo closed for renovations, but owner Crystal Dougan announced in a Facebook post that she is in the process of signing a short-term lease at the old location of Renegade Kitchen.
“I don’t feel that I can serve customers from that location,” Crystal explains, adding that it will be a production kitchen only.
The spot is located on Leon Avenue next to the safe injection site, which is a short distance from where Little Hobo has been located for the past seven years, at 596 Leon Ave.
Little Hobo originally announced a one-month closure for renovations on Jan. 2, but Crystal says, "In that time frame, we have recognized some kitchen renos that have to be completed before we can reopen."
They will be moving the majority of their equipment out of the shop to complete the work in mid-February, "if all the stars align."
“The best way to show support for your lil shop on the corner at this time is to shop in the freezer section of one of the local stores that carry Little Hobo products,” Crystal explains.
