Man dead, teenager injured after car drives down embankment in Kelowna

A man died in Kelowna on Monday night after the vehicle he was driving went off-road and down an embankment.

The RCMP said the man, whose age has not been revealed, was declared dead at the scene, while the vehicle’s sole passenger was injured.

The blue Chevrolet he was driving left the road sometime before 10:30 pm, police said.

It happened in the 3700 block of Spiers Road.

The car’s passenger – a 16-year-old boy – was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police added: “The scene of the crash was closed for several hours for processing, and investigators are currently in the midst of determining what led to the collision.”

The BC Coroners Service is conducting its own investigation into the death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300.
