After a six-month search, the 1,000-member Kelowna Chamber of Commerce has found a new CEO.
It's George Greenwood, who was most recently the CEO of the 2,500-member Association of Interior Realtors.
The Kelowna chamber formed its own hiring committee and retained recruitment firm Watson Board Advisors of Vancouver to find and hire Greenwood.
"We are thrilled to welcome George in leading the next phase of development of our chamber," said chamber president and board of directors chair Maryse Harvey.
"As this region grows, George's experience, vision and leadership will help enhance our role as a catalyst for economic vitality."
Previous to his five years at the Association of Interior Realtors, Greenwood was CEO of TCU Financial Group in Saskatoon and CEO of Advance Savings Credit Union in Moncton.
"I'm excited to bring my passion and years of experience serving businesses of all sixes and across all sectors to the members of the Kelowna chamber," said Greenwood.
"I look forward to contributing to the chamber's vision of being a catalyst for innovation, ideas and connection."
The Kelowna chamber let go its previous CEO, Dan Rogers, in May, stating it wanted to go in a different direction.
Over the past six months, chamber director of operations Coleen Clark stepped up to be acting CEO.
Rogers has since concentrated on his own business consulting firm DMR.
Greenwood left the Association of Interior Realtors in February.
The new CEO of the Association of Interior Realtors is Mohamed Ladak, previously CEO of Bulkley Valley Credit Union in Smithers.
