Residents on the North Westside Road have been given more time to dispose of unwanted bulky items.
Each year the bulky item collection event happens in spring and fall at the North Westside Road transfer station.
As residents continue to recover and clean up after the White Rock Lake wildfire, the fall collection event has been extended an extra week to help with that process.
From Oct. 6 to Oct. 20 residents can dispose of bulky items for $20 a truck load during regular operating hours.
Items that are accepted include household waste, appliances, scrap metal, lawn mowers, household and law furniture.
The transfer station cannot accept hazardous materials, computers, electronics, demolition material or burned vehicles.
For more information contact the Regional Waste Reduction Office at 250-469-6250 or email recycle@cord.bc.ca.
The transfer station is open Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday from 8:00 am until noon and Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm.
Located at the Sugarloaf Mountain/Whiteman Creek Forest Service Road, this transfer station is only open to residents, property owners and tenants of the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO).
RDCO reminds residents that fridges and freezers will be accepted at this event at no charge but they must be emptied of all contents prior to drop off.
