(Original story: Aug. 10 @ 5:40 pm) – The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) has issued a precautionary water quality advisory for the Sunset Ranch water system.

This comes following a positive test for total coliform in a water sample from the community system.

The water quality advisory impacts an estimated 285 connections in the Sunset Ranch subdivision located within the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.

Roadside sign notices have been put in place stating the water advisory.

“As a precaution, it’s recommended newborns, the elderly, those with weakened immune systems and anyone wishing additional protection should boil all water intended for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages, ice or brushing teeth for at least one minute,” reads the release from RDCO.

“As a safe alternative to boiled water from the tap, affected customers may choose to use bottled or distilled water.”

The water quality advisory will remain in place until further notice and testing confirms the water is within acceptable Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.

For more information head over to the RDCO website, or check out the Interior Health Drinking Water Advisory map.
