If you love to read and are looking to fill up your bookshelf a little bit, you won’t want to miss the Great Okanagan Book Sale.
The 33rd annual edition of the event takes place over four days this week, from Wednesday through Saturday at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall (ICPH).
Volunteers have meticulously combed through 700 boxes of gently-used books and sorted them into categories for people to easily sort through.
That means the tables at the ICPH will be stocked with over 20,000 items available at bargain-bin prices.
That includes $2 adult books, $1 children books and great deals on audio books, puzzles, games and more.
The annual Great Okanagan Book Sale is put on by Kelowna Friends of the Library (FOL) in support of the Okanagan Regional Library.
Last year’s edition raised nearly $22,000 and a new multi-day spring sale at the Kelowna Curling Club in May tacked on another $15,000 to that total.
Sale stock consists of books taken from the ORL network along with public donations with a general goal of repurposing lightly-used books instead of seeing them end up in landfills.
If you have books that you’d like to donate, you can do that year-round at the FOL’s storage-sorting base at 114-2476 Westlake Rd. in West Kelowna.
The 2023 Great Okanagan Book Sale will take place at the following times over the next four days:
- Wednesday: 1:30-8 pm
- Thursday: 9:30 am-8 pm
- Friday: 9:30 am-8 pm
- Saturday: 9:30 am-2 pm
