The Train Station Pub is now home to an antique model train set.
On Friday, owner David Lindsay and his wife, Rhonda Lindsay, received the gift of a Marx model train set from Bernie Ryan, the organizer of Bands, BBQ, Beers and Balding, in appreciation of all the couple does for Kelowna and the province.
“David’s a super guy, a real good community person,” Bernie explains. “It’s a proper recognition that he hasn’t asked for, but deserves.”
At this year’s Bands, BBQ, Beers and Balding event, David donated a total of $3,000, which was $500 per person who shaved their head for the cause.
“That’s not nothing,” Bernie says, adding that David donated cash and prize packages, such as dinner for two at The Train Station Pub and Mid-Town Station Kitchen + Bar, in prior years as well.
Two years ago, he also sold a charity beer called Baldweiser, brewed by Cellar-Tek, Vice & Virtue Brewing Co and Red Bird Brewing, to help raise funds for KGH Foundation’s JoeAnna’s House and BC Children’s Hospital’s Balding for Dollars.
“That takes money out of his pocket because he’s not selling his own beer,” Bernie explains.
Additionally, David has been involved with 100 Heroes Kelowna and other local non-profit organizations.
Bernie adds: "He's just a very nice person."
