The Moonlight Movie Tour is back in the Central Okanagan this weekend after being rescheduled due to the wildfires in August.
A giant inflatable screen will be set up in Kelowna on Friday, then Lake Country on Saturday to show a pair of family-friendly movies under the stars.
In Kelowna, it will be The Strange World at City Park, while Lake Country will get a screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in Swalwell Park. Movies will begin at dusk.
There is no charge to attend, although a donation of $3 per person or $10 per family is suggested, with all funds benefiting BGC Okanagan.
“We’re delighted to partner with Interior Savings and to be a part of the Moonlight Movie Tour,” said Richelle Leckey, community engagement coordinator at BGC Okanagan.
“Proceeds from this event will help BGC Okanagan provide safe spaces for children and youth to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.”
The Moonlight Movie Tour makes its way around the BC Interior each summer, raising funds along the way for local non-profit organizations.
Since 2010, the tour has raised over $200,000 to support youth and mental wellness programs.
Gates will open at 6 pm both nights and moviegoers are encouraged to bring cash for a donation and concession stand treats, as well as lawn chairs and blankets for maximum comfort.
