According to preliminary numbers, the UBC Okanagan campus is set to welcome its largest intake of students since the post secondary institution opened it’s doors 12 years ago.
Though Deputy Registrar Fred Vogt cautions that final numbers will not be available until the end of summer, the numbers are showing growth in student population.
So far, the total population of students that will be attending UBCO this fall is 9,000, the most students that the campus has ever hosted.
Of those 2,250 of those students are new-to-program first years, and of those first year students 450 of them are international, hailing from 98 different countries.
“We are very encouraged by the continued year-over-year strength in our enrollment numbers,” Vogt says.
“Clearly, students and their families recognize that the availability of a world-class UBC education in a small campus setting and an inspiring location is a special opportunity, added Vogt.
Across both UBC campuses, there will be a total of 63,370 students. 47,048 of those students are from Canada while 16,322 are international.
