Residents of Kelowna will be given the chance next week to speak for or against a proposed building that could be the city’s tallest.
The UBCO campus development that has been put forward for downtown Kelowna will be the lone item on next week’s public hearing.
This is probably for good reason given that the proposal can be expected to garner some feedback from residents.
If residents would like to attend the hearing in person, stop by city hall next Tuesday at 6 pm.
Modified design plans, which were submitted in June 2022, call for a 46-storey tower to be located at 550 Doyle Avenue, the site of the former Daily Courier building.
When Kelowna City Council agreed to send this to public hearing during the July 11 meeting, they were very enthusiastic to hear what the public will have to say about this massive development.
The campus tower would include an atrium, eight storeys for academic purposes and 36 storeys providing more than 500 residential units for UBC students and staff.
There would also be a cafe, public art gallery, public engagement suite as well as a plaza which would be open by both students and the public.

All submissions to the city in regard to this project must be received by 8 am on July 26.
