VIDEO: If helping women at risk is your cup of tea...

You couldn't dream up a more tasteful way to help a deserving charity.

All you have to do is go pick up some soul-warming herbal tea.

The NOW Canada Society helps marginalized women who have experienced addictions, abuse and sexual exploitation.

Often that help starts with finding them a home.

The Herbal Tea project was launched in hopes that it might help the organization do even more.

"We're super excited about it," said project spokesperson Brittani Stober.

"The goal is for us to eventually turn this into a social enterprise where we can get some of the ladies looking for work that they could be packaging it and doing the labelling and create a little source of income for them."

"A lot of them have kids and it makes scheduling a 9-5 job difficult," added Stober. "We thought this could be flexible hours and we could really work with what they want to do."

NOW Canada operates three affordable apartment buildings in Kelowna that offer differing levels of income assistance.

"We also have front-line programs and we have an emergency shelter just for women," explained Stober.

"And then we've got the safe houses as well that are in confidential locations for women fleeing abuse."

"Their stories aren't mine to tell," she added. "But all of them are really beautiful, and really ladies that are deserving of a second chance."

The herbal teas are available in Kelowna at Peter's Your Independent Grocer.
