Some local videographers have shed a light on the men and women who fight forest fires and keep our communities safe.
Tommy DeWitt and twin brothers Mitchell and Stephen Kucher recently released their video Meet the Frontlines: The Men & Women Who Fight Forest Fires on their channel, TMS Productions, and it has garnered quite a bit of attention.
The video gives a portrait of the different kinds of people who are currently on the frontlines trying to contain some of B.C.’s wildfires.
They describe entering the fire camp, saying it “looked really intense.”
“We turned the corner and there were big fences and gates and everything,” said Mitchell.
The team says that they were able to hear some amazing stories while talking to the camp residents, like a firefighter from New Zealand, and a woman firefighter who was running her own unit crew of all girls.
“She kind of like showcased what it was like to be a firefighter as a woman as well so we thought that was really important,” they told NowMedia.
They added that the video turned out better than expected and they were really impressed with the final product.
As of this morning, the video has more than 1,000 views on YouTube.
Mitchell, Tommy, and Stephen have been working on TMS Productions since March 2015. Having graduated high school last June, the three friends plan to carry on with their channel, releasing a video every week. To check out more of their content, visit their channel here.
