VIDEO: Kelowna car meet comes to a crashing end

Young car enthusiasts like to get together on Wednesday nights in Kelowna.

Usually, it's pretty tame.

But not last night.

The driver of a Dodge Charger Hellcat decided to put on a show on Baron Road that didn't end well.

The speeding muscle car went into a spin with a crowd of spectators looking on.

But that's when it all went wrong.

The car drifted off the road and didn't stop until it slammed into a parked car.

Matt Sharhon, who has an apartment nearby, heard a lot of commotion before the crash.

"The most people I've ever heard outside my apartment," he said.

"There's probably like 40 people standing out here. A bunch of engines revving, and they're just ripping around this corner doing donuts and stuff, right in the middle of the street."

That's when Sharhon had a a bit of a premonition.

"I had a strange feeling about my car," he said.

"And then I heard a loud crash. And then the next thing you know....somebody hit my car."

It was just after 9 pm when Sharhon found himself checking out the damage to his Mazda.

"It was actually pretty bad," he said.

The good news is he doesn't have to track down the driver responsible.

"The guy stuck around," said Sharhon. "He gave me his information and everything."

He's not happy about what happened, but he's not angry either.

"I'm all for people having fun," Sharhon said.

But he suggested they find a better place for the stunting.

"It shouldn't happen in the middle of the street," he said.

"And you shouldn't be hitting my car. That's all I really want to say about it."

KelownaNow has reached out to the RCMP about the incident.
