The Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market is spending its Saturday celebrating Okanagan apples!
With 10 varieties on display, from classic Macintosh to BC’s own Ambrosia, the market is doing its part to educate shoppers on the unique and delicious properties of each apple.
“Every apple is different,” said market coordinator Frances Callaghan.
“They each have their own uniqueness and can all be used for different things, there is so much to learn and I think it is interesting for people to know what is all out here in the Okanagan.”
Market shoppers are invited to taste test the different varieties as well as sample some scrumptious baked goods at the onsite apple pie and dessert contest scheduled for 10:30 am.
Vendors and attendees have spent the last few days mustering up their signature apple pie or apple infused desserts to serve judges and bystanders for an opportunity to win a bag of Okanagan apples and some market bucks!
In addition, the market boasts an apple-oriented children’s activity station. Little ones can build their own “Ms. Applehead” figure out of crafting materials.
As always a number of vendors are onsite not only bursting with apples but an abundance of fresh produce and homemade goodies to take home.
The market is on until 1 pm at the corner of Springfield and Dilworth.
