Klick with folk multi-instrumental singer-songwriter, Dan Tait

Nearly 11 years ago, folk singer-songwriter Dan Tait moved to the Okanagan Valley with a broken heart and a love for snowboarding.

Tait was born in a small town west of Ottawa called Arnprior, where he fell in love with music before he “crash landed” at Big White Ski Resort with his best friend.

“I really gravitated towards folk because I started falling into folk thanks to my mom. She taught me to listen to all kinds of protest writers like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens,” explained Tait.

Tait said he grew up listening to 90’s bands including Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney.

It was when he moved to BC that he finally started launching his music career, which began with several group projects including Kentucky Eileen and Tiger Moon.

Dan Tait is currently pursuing a solo career, but he still performs with both bands – Kentucky Eileen will soon be on tour and Tiger Moon will be performing at Rock Creek Fall Fair.

Tait said going back on the road is “equally amazing and anxiety inducing.”

Not only can he sing, he can play many instruments including the harmonica, guitar, kick drum, bass and foot tambourine.

Watch this episode of Klick’s Korner to hear Dan Tait perform two original songs, “The Way Life Goes” and “Letters,” as well as a cover of “Use Somebody.”
