The Victoria Golden Tide avoided a series sweep with a 5-3 victory in the final game of a four game set against the Okanagan College Coyotes in Kelowna over the weekend.

Shortstop Jordan Bond, right fielder Dominic Biello and catcher Parker Harris drove in one run each and the Tide took advantage of some Coyotes errors to take the lead midway through the game before the bullpen shut the door to secure the victory.

Reliever Triston Seitz would earn the win after pitching five scoreless innings in relief of starter Ethan Mark, while right-hander Brady Wilson took the save after allowing one run over one inning of work.

Despite the win on Sunday, it was a challenging opening weekend for the Tide, who dropped the first three games 10-0, 15-5 and 9-4 to the Coyotes.

Their record now sits at 1-3 on the season.

Victoria will be back on the diamond this weekend for a pair of double-headers against the UFV Cascades. The first two games are set to begin at 12 pm and 3 pm on Saturday, Apr. 1 at Fairfield Park in Chilliwack, BC, while the final two will be held at 1 pm and 4 pm at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.

The Golden Tide are a collegiate baseball team made up of students from the University of Victoria and Camosun College.
