Okanagan Gymnastics Club busy with a number of out-of-town competitions

Trampoline Gymnastics

Canada Winter Games – Red Deer, Alberta

BC Trampoline did well at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta. from Feb. 23 until March 3.

Okanagan Gymnastics athlete Jordyn Yendley and coach Jamie Gardner were both representing Team BC.

Jordyn Yendley, with team mates Gavin Dodd from Kamloops, Maja Bonham from Vancouver and Declan Mclean from Vancouver finished third in the team finals.

Yendley did well in individual trampoline coming home with a 4th place finish in prelim. Only one athlete per province was eligible to go to finals.

Kamloops Invitational

Okanagan gymnastics Centre trampoline team had a fabulous week in Kamloops at their second trials of the year at the Kamloops Invitational.

Andrew Martin in the senior level on individual trampoline placed 1st.

Janiah Harris level 5 17+ came home with a 2nd pace on individual trampoline and a 2nd place on double mini trampoline.

Madison Eagle level 6 17 u placed 3rd on individual trampoline and 9th in level 5 16u double mini trampoline placed.

Taya Lawless level 5 17+placed 1st on individual trampoline and 1st on double mini trampoline.

Emily Welsh level 6 18+ came 1st on individual trampoline and 2nd on double mini trampoline.

Seija Bishop Level 3 14u women came 4th in individual trampoline, 7th on double mini trampoline and 6th in tumbling.

Claudia Clark came 4th in level 2 13+ women individual trampoline and 9th on double mini trampoline.

Paige Porcellato came 3rd in individual trampoline 7th, on double mini trampoline in level 1 12u women.

Jack Porcellato came 6th in level 1 men in individual trampoline and 9th on double mini trampoline.

Eric Scott came 3rdin level 2 men individual trampoline, 3rd on level 1 men double mini trampoline and 1st in level 1 men tumbling.

Ethan Scott came 6th in level 5 men individual trampoline, 2nd double mini trampoline in level 4 men and 1st in level 3 men tumbling.

Jacob Kochyema came 2nd in individual trampoline and 1st in level 3 men double mini trampoline.

Cameron Bouchard came 1st on individual trampoline and 3rd in level 5 men double mini trampoline.

Nate Banner came 3rd in level4 men individual trampoline and 3rd on double mini trampoline.

Brent Ertman came 1st in level 6 double mini trampoline and 1st on tumbling.

Josh Dumontier came 6th in level 2 men in individual trampoline and 5th on double mini trampoline.

Carter Dumontiercame 9th in level 2 men in individual trampoline and 6th on double mini trampoline.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

The women’s artistic gymnastics team has been busy.

Kamloops Invitational

Okanagan Gymnastics took the top of the podium numerous times over the weekend with six all around champions. Peyton Anderson, Madison Parnell, Stella Zobel, Talia Westwood, Izabelle Coetzee and Caitlin Keeler all won their respective level and age categories.

In the Level 3 competition, Peyton Anderson won the 2011 age category after finishing first place on every event! Vault, bars, beam and floor with an all around score of 37.125. Leila Turner finished second overall after earning the silver medal on each apparatus! These young ladies were the top of the pack from clubs from the Kootenay and Okanagan regions.

Madison Parnell finished first overall in the 2009 Level 3 category after earning first place on bars and floor and second place on balance beam. Brielle Leach finished second over all with first place on balance bean and second place on vault and floor. Noora Tanha had her top placing on floor exercise in 5th place.

Jayde Bartel finished second overall in the 2010, Level 3 category after winning first place on vault, second on beam and third on bars and floor.

In the 2009, Level 4, Lexi Crawford finished with first place on bars and second on vault, while Makena Ivanitz finished second place on floor and third place on balance beam.

Elisa Schoen finished third overall in the 2008, level 4 category after finishing second on vault and bars and third place on beam.

Stella Zobel won the all around in the 2004-2007, Level 4 category after finishing first place on vault and bars and second place on beam and floor.

Talia Westwood won the Level 5 category finishing first place on balance beam and floor and second on bars. Peyton Johal finished third overall with third place finishes on vault, bars and beam.

In the 2007-2008 Level 6 event, Izabelle Coetzee finished in the top spot overall after winning the uneven bars and finishing second on vault and floor. Haylee Van Steinburg finished second overall with a first place on vault, and third place finishes on bars and floor.

Caitlin Keeler won the 2006 Level 6 competition finishing first place on vault, bars and floor. Katie Flaten finished second overall with a second place finish on vault and bars. Taylor Morrison won first place on the balance beam and third place on bars. Raedyn Furneaux finished with a silver medal on the floor exercise.

Kyleigh Crawford and Amanda Jaggard competed in the Level 9 category where they finished second and third overall respectively. Both girls tied for first place on the vault and Jaggard also won the balance beam.

Gymnix International – Montreal, Quebec

Miah Denis was the top Okanagan finisher at the 2019 International Gymnix event in Montreal, Quebec. Denis competed in the JO 8 category and finished first place on vault, third on bars and beam and second all around with a total score of 37.175.

Natalia Simeunovic finished second on vault in the JO 8 category.

Olive Fenske, competing in the Aspire 2 category showed her top placing on the bars in 9th position.

Rae Roworth and Milani Ritchie competed in the Aspire 1 category with their top placing being on the balance beam, finishing 10th and 12th, respectively.

Surrey Invitational

Preston Popoff competed in the Level 2 Under 10 event and finished in third place on the high bar.

Peyton Henry finished third on the vault in the Level 2 11& 12 year old category.
