Okanagan Sun battle to earn first win of the season over Langley

The start of the season is off to a good start for the Okanagan Sun as the team overcame the Langley Rams to win at home 22-15 on Saturday.

Coming into the match, the Okanagan Sun were ranked fourth overall in the Canadian Junior Football League preseason standings, while the Rams found themselves holding down the ninth spot.

The Rams got the scoring started with a major in the first quarter and took a 7-0 lead into halftime as the home team were kept off the scoreboard.

After the Rams added to their tally to make it a 13-0 game, the Sun got to work clawing back at the early deficit.

By the end of the third quarter, the Sun had tied the game and they kept their momentum rolling in the fourth quarter, playing to a 22-15 win.

Elelyon Noa was a train on the ground as he ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns, adding 52 yards on four receptions.

Marek Filipek tossed 18 completions for 184 yards in total, surrendering only one interception to the Rams.

Vicente Ferreira and Jacob Bond both notched five tackles in the win as neither team’s defence was able to register a sack.

The Sun are on the road for the next three games as they face the Vancouver Island Raiders this Saturday at 5 pm.
