Okanagan Sun spoil Kamloops Broncos home opener

It was a dominant weekend for the Okanagan Sun as they beat the Kamloops Broncos 66-7, their largest margin of victory this season.

Kamloops managed to find the end zone in the first quarter and that was all the Sun would allow en route to spoiling the Broncos' home opener.

The Okanagan Sun put up 17 points in the first quarter and simply couldn't be stopped on the ground.

Tristen Peddle led the Sun’s rushing with 84 yards on 12 carries, adding on two rushing touchdowns.

With Liam Kroeger out, the Sun turned to Adam Rocha and Hunter Norman to lead the offence in the air.

Rocha finished the game 11/16 and 153 yards passing, including two touchdown passes. Norman was 5/5 through the air with a touchdown.

Going into half, the Sun were up 31-7, and they continued to pile it on with 21 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Sam Melanson led the Okanagan receivers with four receptions, 54 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

The Broncos also had two quarterbacks playing, as Josh Chairison and Tayen Lloyd both split time leading the offence.

Chairison finished the game with 108 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Lloyd had six completions and 78 passing yards in the loss.

The Sun get this week off before heading north to play the Prince George Kodiaks Sept. 30.
