The Sooke, BC product was originally drafted by his hometown club with the 123rd overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft last spring.

Having grown up on the Island, Danyleyko’s excitement to play for his hometown team was noticeable after his signing.

“I’ve always wanted to play for my hometown team,” said Danyleyko. “I grew up watching the Royals with my family and my friends, even with my Grandpa, so it feels pretty surreal to sign with them.”

Danyleyko enjoyed a successful season with Okanagan Hockey Academy, posting 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 16 games for their U17 team and 24 points (9 goals, 15 assists) in 16 games with their U18 squad.

“We're thrilled to be able to officially bring Wyatt and his family into the fold,” said Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel & Player Development J.F. Best. “He is a great person with high character who has worked very hard to earn this type of well-deserved recognition. As a player, he's a dynamic skater who competes hard every shift and is already demonstrating the ability to process the game at a high level, both offensively and defensively. He has the potential to become a true 200-foot match type of forward with scoring touch in the WHL."

When asked about his style of play, Danyleyko mentioned he models his game after Montreal Canadiens’ forward Cole Caufield.

“I feel I’m a strong 200-foot player, someone who likes to play defensively and offensively at both ends of the ice,” said Danyleyko. “I tend to model my game after Cole Caufield, as he’s someone who fits my style of play and how I want to play.”
