The Victoria Grizzlies have been cleared to resume team activities following a five day exile in COVID protocol.
The team was put on pause late last week after a number of players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 prior to a scheduled game against the Powell River Kings. The health and safety protocols outlined by the BCHL mandated that the team cease all team activities for at least five days before returning to action.
With the five day period now passed, and with no new cases of the virus infecting the team, the Grizzlies have been cleared to resume their regular day-to-day operations. The team held their first practice since the break on Monday and will resume their regular season schedule on Friday against Powell River.
Like many hockey leagues around the nation, the BCHL continues to suffer COVID outbreaks among its member organizations, leading to a number of postponements and teams entering health and safety protocol this month.
However, the Grizzlies return is a promising sign that the league may be able to return to a more stable schedule in the coming weeks.
