Warriors captain commits to Division 1 NCAA program

It was an incredibly tough season for West Kelowna Warriors’ captain Jake Harrison.

The blueliner was injured in the team’s first game of the year and missed the entire regular season.

When he returned to the ice for game one of the playoffs, he scored four points in five games and was a constant threat for the Warriors on the ice.

Despite the lack of games, Harrison was able to secure a commitment to the University of Nebraska Omaha, a Division 1 NCAA program that he’ll begin playing for in the fall.

“Jake went through a very difficult season, but was always positive and a consummate leader in our dressing room,” said head coach Simon Ferguson

“When he stepped back on the ice in the playoffs it gave our team a huge lift and he was one of the best players on the ice. Nebraska Omaha is getting a quality player and person and we are excited to follow his career.”

Despite his injury, Harrison continued to attend community events and provide leadership in the Warriors locker room throughout the year.

When he returned to the ice in March, he certainly caught the attention of NCAA scouts.

“I am beyond excited to commit to such a great school”, said Harrison. “The culture and the high level of Omaha gets me the most excited.”

Harrison played parts of five seasons in West Kelowna, although he spent last year with the USHL’s Fargo Force before returning to the BCHL last fall.
