The West Kelowna Warriors took on the Vernon Vipers this past weekend, both at home and on the road, in their final preseason games before the 2023-24 campaign.
After winning both games, the Warriors finished the preseason 4-0 and will now prepare for their season opener this Friday against the Penticton Vees.
Michael Salandra opened the scoring for the Warriors 11 minutes into the game Friday night with an assist from Johannes Løkkeberg.
The Vipers kept on attacking, but Rorke Applebee was a brick wall in the net for the Warriors, stopping all 24 shots he faced.
The Warriors added two more goals in the third period, both on power plays, as they held on to take the 3-0 victory.
West Kelowna outshot Vernon 31-24 in the win and the Vipers were 0/5 on the power play.
The second and final game of the weekend then moved up north as the Vipers hosted the Warriors at Kal Tire Place.
West Kelowna was once again the first on the board after Løkkeberg scored to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead six minutes into the game.
Not long after, Jack Pridham would find the back of the net to double the Warriors’ lead.
Connor Elliott then cut the lead in half as he netted the Vipers' first goal of the game nearly six minutes into the second period.
The Warriors did not let the Vipers get too comfortable, as Landen Hilditch scored West Kelowna’s third goal of the game six minutes later.
West Kelowna would hold on for the 3-1 win and finish their preseason a perfect 4-0.
Next up for the Warriors is their season opener this Friday against the defending league champions, the Penticton Vees.
