Warriors struggle in 6-3 loss against Sherwood Park

The West Kelowna Warriors were at home Saturday night for their annual teddy bear toss and looking to end their homestand with a win after going to overtime in their three previous matches.

But the Sherwood Park Crusaders had other plans and controlled the majority of the game.

Fans at Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna did not have to wait long to toss their stuffed animals onto the ice.

Down 1-0, Luciano Bruno put the Warriors on the scoreboard with his second goal of the season at the 13:01 mark of the opening frame.

The 1-1 draw did not last for long before the Crusaders added two more scores to take a 3-1 lead going into the second period.

With a man advantage early in the middle frame, the Crusaders added to their lead and made it a 4-1 game.

Dylan Krayer brought the Warriors within two goals before Sherwood Park scored again to make it 5-3.

Bruno then found the back of the net early in the third period, but that was all the Warriors would get as the Crusaders added an empty net score to take the 6-3 win.

The Warriors will head south to face the Penticton Vees on Friday before returning home to host the Vees on Saturday.
