Warriors to open their season on the road in Cranbrook

The wait is nearly over, as the West Kelowna Warriors will be back on the ice at Royal LePage Place to commence the 2024-25 season in a little more than three months.

The upcoming BCHL schedule was announced on Thursday and the Warriors are slated to begin the season on the road in Cranbrook, eventually returning to West Kelowna for their home opener on Sept. 27.

All 21 teams will play 54 games this upcoming season, with 91% of the matches scheduled for prime night games on Fridays, Saturdays or team-preferred holiday dates.

“2024-25 is set to be a monumental season for the BCHL, in more ways than one,” said Commissioner Steven Cocker.

“The full integration of our five new members, soon-to-be-announced event alliances and an elite group of incoming athletes are going to set the stage for an incredible year.”

With the addition of five Alberta-based teams and the subtraction of the Merritt Centennials, there were changes to the divisional alignments.

The first Alberta versus BC matchup will occur on opening night, with the Penticton Vees facing the Spruce Grove Saints.

West Kelowna will play nine games on the road against their new foes based in Alberta.

“We are pleased with the home schedule for the upcoming season. It welcomes the opportunity for big promotional nights and large crowds in Royal Lepage Place,” said Warriors President Chris Laurie.

“Mixing in the Alberta teams will be a nice addition.”

The BCHL Showcase, All-Star Weekend and Road Show locations and dates will be announced shortly.
