The musician, who left one of Canada's biggest party bands back in 2014, has since been on a path of healing and sobriety following years of alcohol abuse.

His six-year sobriety has since found him writing tirelessly to create new, powerful music on his most recent albums Self Help, You Know I Love You, and his latest, There’s A Place.

In addition to becoming clean from drugs and alcohol, McCann also lifted a huge weight off his shoulders in recent years after sharing his personal story of being sexually abused at the age of 15.

In his new music, McCann has spoken rather candidly on the adversities he has faced, as well as becoming an advocate for victims of sexual assault. In addition to creating music as a form of healing for himself and fans, McCann regularly speaks at events about his survival story.

KelownaNow had the opportunity to speak with the musician about his sobriety, hardships, new music and what fans can come to expect from a post-Great Big Sea performance from McCann.

McCann will be at the Rotary Centre for the arts on March 5. Tickets are still available online.
