Major Crimes Unit called in to help find another missing North Okanagan woman

For the second time this month, the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit has been called in to help with a missing person’s case.

The unit is now assisting the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP with the investigation into the disappearance of Caitlin Brandy Potts.

Potts was reported missing to the Enderby RCMP on Mar. 1, 2016 as she was last in contact with friends and family on Feb. 22, 2016.

“All missing person cases are treated as high priority investigations. In Caitlin’s case, the assistance of the SED MCU at this point is reflective of our commitment to fully determine her current whereabouts and what has occurred to date,” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk

The 27-year-old is the second woman to disappear in the North Okanagan since April.

Ashley Marie Simpson was reported missing on Apr. 30, 2016 after she ceased communication with her family and friends. The Major Crimes Unit has been called in to investigate her disappearance as police suspect foul play.

“Although the SED MCU is currently engaged in these recent cases of two North Okanagan missing women, there are no indications at this time leading investigators to believe that the two matters are linked in any way. The involvement of foul play in regards to Caitlin case has not been eliminated,” added Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

Potts’ mother Priscilla recently put out a plea to the public to help find her daughter.

“Caitlin is originally from Alberta but had moved to British Columbia in the fall of 2015.

“Myself and the rest of Caitlin’s family have not heard from her since February and we are very worried. Caitlin is 27 years old and leads a socially active life. Her lack of online communication with friends and loved ones is out of character for my daughter. We believe that someone must have information about Caitlin and perhaps know where she is right now. We also need to hear from anyone who may have had contact with her or have seen her since she was last heard from on February 22nd.

“I miss my daughter, not hearing from her has caused me a lot of worry and grief as any parent can understand. We simply need to hear from her so that we know she is okay.”
