The fourth quarterly report from the Vernon RCMP for 2016 reveals significant increases in crime compared to 2015.
The statistics from the report reflect monthly totals for October to December 2016 and comparisons from the previous year.
According to the North Okanagan Detachment Policing Activity Report which the Vernon RCMP will present to Vernon City Council on Monday, criminal code cases have increased 14.93% from the previous year.
Property crime has risen to 27.58%, showing theft from vehicles as almost double.
Although increases in calls for service have been consistent over the past four years, 2016 recorded the single largest increase in total calls for service from 28,621 to 30,164 in 201 (5.93%).
On a brighter note, impaired driving investigations have declined 9.09% in the last quarter compared to the previous year.
