One hundred fifty students of the Kelowna Secondary School Music Department have been hard at work the past couple of months to bring the community a night of stunning music from all genres.
The KSS Music Showcase is a two-night event where students from the school will be presenting their immense talent through a number of musical styles from Jazz to Orchestra, in an effort to help raise funds to better their department.
The funds raised will be put towards new instrument and repairs, getting new music, booking clinicians to come in and work with students and to ultimately provide the students with more musical growth opportunities.
Attendees can not only expect a great variety of musical genres but some immaculate execution of the music presented.
“What they are going to hear is not the typical preconceived notion they have had about high school performances.” said KSS music director and event coordinator, Sheila French.
“These kids are amazing, and some are playing way beyond their years.” added French
For the first year ever, the event will be taking place at the First Lutheran Church and spanning across two nights.
To get the full experience, French has recommended attendees come for both nights.
The event will be taking place on the evenings of February 20th and 21st, tickets are available both at the door and online.
