For the past 10 days, graduating artists from UBCO have been wearing their art on their sleeves for their final showcase.
The multi-media and medium art forms have been on display at the University in a stunning two-floor gallery for all to see and it all came to fruition on Saturday night at the closing reception.
The exhibition, entitled Do Not Erase, hosted the art of 19 students from the Visual Art and Interdisciplinary Performance programs.
The students truly built this exhibition from the ground up, taking care of every aspect themselves. From the creation of their art to the flow of the gallery and the advertisement this showcase was not only to display their work but to test their skills as young professionals.
Photography, painting, sculpting and printmaking are just a few of the mediums used by the artists during this cumulative exhibition of their last four years in university.
In addition to gawking at the astounding and mind-bending works displayed, there were also students who were wandering amongst the attendees while showcasing their performance pieces.
Students were also given awards to commemorate their hard work. Wilden, Kelowna’s largest land developer presented their Creativity Award as well to one lucky graduating artist.
The award selected three students to acknowledge.
The runners up were Jackie Deck and Pamela Turner, while Rho Shaw took home top prize.
With stunning art and a full house, these up and coming artists are already starting to make a name for themselves.
