It’s been a busy stretch for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR).
Crews have been called out multiple times since the weekend and it’s not just local tasks either.
On Sunday, COSAR was tasked to assist Penticton Search and Rescue in providing support for residents forced to evacuate from the Thomas Creek wildfire near Okanagan Falls.
Crews were then called out to a pair of medical calls on the KVR trail on Tuesday and Wednesday.
That same night, another COSAR team was also asked to attend the Emergency Operations Centre to assist in planning for the Brenda Creek wildfire, which sparked alongside Hwy 97C.
Only a few hours later, around 4 am on Thursday, COSAR was sent to deliver evacuation orders to 41 properties around Headwater Lakes.
Later that day, members had to deliver evacuation alerts to 18 properties along Brenda Mines FSR and Peachland FSR>
Finally, COSAR was tasked out to assist the RCMP in locating a few off-road enthusiasts in the Postil Lake area.
COSAR has been called out to nearly 60 tasks this year and are on pace to beat last year’s record of 82 call outs.
