Kelowna MP Stephen Fuhr's election signs hit with blackface

A pair of election signs for MP Stephen Fuhr were vandalized overnight.

The perpetrator took a black sharpie to Fuhr’s face on the both signs.

It gives Fuhr ‘blackface’ and is a clear reference to the controversy surrounding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the past 24 hours.

“So this happened overnight here in our community. Sad,” Fuhr wrote on his Facebook page.

Photos of Trudeau dressed up in brownface in 2001 surfaced on Wednesday and another pair of instances where Trudeau has used skin-darkening makeup have been unearthed since.

After what some would call a surprising victory in 2015, Fuhr is once again running as the Liberal candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country.

Fuhr asked anyone who saw the vandalism or has any information to call his campaign office at 778-436-8648 or contact the RCMP directly.

NowMedia reporter Kent Molgat will be speaking directly with Fuhr this afternoon and have more on this story.
