Labour Day weekend is just around the corner and with it will come a number of changes for the Kelowna Regional Transit System.
The changes are in an effort to match service with demand, which is constantly growing in the Central Okanagan.
Three new routes will be added in West Kelowna:
“BC Transit works hard to ensure our services match ridership demands,” said Erinn Pinkerton, BC Transit president and CEO.
“These new routes in the Kelowna Transit System will not only help improve service reliability, but also provide more efficient service to our customers throughout the system.”
Other changes include improved Sunday and weekday evening service in West Kelowna for route 97 Okanagan.
Route 8 University/OK College will see improved service on weekdays, but a light decrease on Saturdays to improve Sunday service.
There will also be one AM and PM peak trip extended to serve the Ellison area on 23 Lake Country.
For route 15 Crawford, there will be minor trip reductions due to low demand.
These changes come into effect on Sept. 1 and, as always, service levels on secondary and post-secondary schools will be increased to meet demand that comes with school being back in session.
