Lake Country Food Bank hosting winter fundraiser to buy a new truck

The Lake Country Food Bank is hosting a fundraiser in early December with the hopes of raising enough funds to purchase new trucks.

The food bank hopes to raise $150,000 to increase their efficiency, collect more food and better serve the community.

Currently, the food bank’s recovery program stretches from Cherryville to Summerland and serves thousands of people.

“Our current trucks simply can’t keep up with the growing demand,” says a statement from the food bank.

“We often receive generous donations of food, but with limited truck capacity, we find ourselves making multiple trips, slowing down our operations and incurring extra costs.”

The current trucks simply can’t keep up with the demand and a new truck would help the food bank expand its reach and help more people across the Okanagan.

The All we Want for Christmas” fundraiser will be happening on Dec. 8 at Gray Monk Estate Winery.
