(Original Story: Aug. 12 @ 2:45 p.m.):

RCMP are searching for a suspect after a daytime shooting just south of Peachland on Sunday.

Officers were called to a residence in the 7200 block of Hwy 97 around 5:45 pm for reports of the shooting.

Upon arrival, they located a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower body and he was quickly transported to hospital.

The suspect managed to flee the scene before the police arrived.

“Although the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening in nature, there could have been a very different outcome,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“Early indicators suggest that the incident was isolated in nature, and police do not believe that the general public is at further risk.”

The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt at the time of the shooting and reportedly had his face covered.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
