Okanagan conservation officers issues 8 charges, 25 warnings over long weekend

As people headed out to the backcountry for some fishing, camping or relaxation over the May long weekend, BC Conservation Officers were busy patrolling lakes throughout the Okanagan.

Heading into the long weekend, the BC COS sent out a reminder to residents across the province to take care when they headed out to their favourite recreation spots.

However, it appears a few people were caught violating a few fishing regulations.

On Monday, the BC COS provided an update about a few patrols that took place in the valley.

Conservation officers performed 34 angler checks at Kalamalka Lake and Wood Lake.

They issued eight charges, 25 warnings and ordered three vessels off the water.

Some of the charges included angling while suspended, angling without a licence, possessing a live fish angle with more than one hook and no life jackets.

As always, if you spot a violation, report it to the RAPP line at 1(877) 952-7277.
