City of Penticton to open some sports fields for bookings starting today

The City of Penticton has announced that it will allow McLaren Arena and some sports to reopen on a bookings only basis.

Starting today, people will be able to book the sports fields and arena. Rental requests will only be considered from user groups who have submitted a complete COVID-19 Safety Plan.

All customers who hold valid recreation passes will receive an extension to their pass equal to the duration of time the facility is closed. This includes those who hold 1, 3, 6 and 12 month pool, fitness room and combo passes.

While some recreational facilities will begin opening, others are remaining closed for the time being.

The Penticton Community Centre, Museum & Archives and the Cleland Theatre are not reopening with the sports fields.

“Our team is diligently working towards a safe return to operations; stay tuned for further announcements coming soon,” said the city.
