The Penticton Minor Hockey Association would like to get more females involved.
So, the PMHA is holding Esso Fun Day Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1 to 3 pm to help promote female hockey.
The event is being sponsored by Esso.
“We are hosting a one day event for any new-to-hockey females to come and try it out,” said Tricia Hernes, Female Division Director for the PMHA. “It can often be intimidating for young girls to try out hockey, so we offer a session in a safe, no-pressure environment based on having fun.”
There is no cost for girls to participate in this event.
“If they don't have gear we are doing our best to source gear for them to use and keep if they decide to play hockey,” added Hernes. “Some of our young female coaches are coming out to do some fun on-ice drills for an hour, and then we will do some get-to-know-you activities outside of the arena after.”
Contact Hernes to get involved in the clinic.
PMHA has a team in every age group on the female side, offering girls the chance to play in an environment that is supportive and creates a positive experience.
