The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has announced the Campbell Mountain and Keremeos landfill operations will be open during regular hours this Sunday on Remembrance Day.
The RDOS issued a news release Thursday stating the Campbell Mountain landfill will be open from 8:30 a.m to 4:45 p.m on Sunday, while the Keremeos landfill will be open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
The Campbell Mountain, Oliver and Okanagan Falls landfill operations will be open normal hours on Monday, Nov.12 as well.
November is one of the busiest times of year at local landfills due to large volumes of yard waste.
In prior years, closing the Campbell Mountain landfill for Remembrance Day created lineups and problems the next day, said the news release. Keeping the landfill open will help people deal with cleaning up their properties, said the release.
RDOS landfills will be switching to reduced winter hours starting Dec. 1 and remain in place until the end of February.
