The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen in consultation with the Interior Health Authority has issued a Boil Water Notice for the entire Sun Valley water system.
The Sun Valley water system is located in the southeast area of Okanagan Falls and provides domestic and irrigation water to 28 connections.
The boil water notice is in response to power issues at the pump station Friday night that resulted in portions of the water system losing water pressure.
Residents may observe some discoloration or sediment in the water. If you experience dirty water, simply run your cold water taps or garden hose until the water runs clear.
Residents may also wish to isolate their in-home treatment systems until turbidity has decreased to normal levels. In addition, residents should check the water quality before doing laundry to minimize potential staining or discoloration.
Residents are advised to use a safe alternate source of water for preparing baby formula for infants and young children, and are asked to boil water for all drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation/cooking purposes and ice making. Water should be brought to a full boil and allowed to boil for at least one minute.
The RDOS would also like to remind all business owners and operators, such as bed and breakfasts, and public facilities operators that it is their responsibility to notify customers of the Boil Water Notice.
