When you think of firefighters, normally you picture them in full fire-resistant garb, saving homes and people from roaring blazes.
However, they've been known to do the occasional rescue mission for a cat stuck in a tree or, in this case, a puppy from a fence.
On Tuesday, July 16, members of the Mission Professional Firefighters' Association in Mission, BC received a call from a concerned citizen seeking help for a puppy in distress.
Crews arrived to the Mission home to find the young dog with its head stuck through a piece of lattice fencing.
According to a tweet made by the department, the resident of the home “exhausted every avenue” before calling upon the local department to lend a helping hand.
After exhausting every avenue, a citizen asked for assistance in freeing this puppy from a piece of lattice. We were happy to help. Your firefighters are always ready to lend a hand even in uncommon situations. pic.twitter.com/JsItUC7pZu

Luckily, attending officials were able to free the pup — a scenario they were happy to help out in.
“We were happy to help. Your firefighters are always ready to lend a hand even in uncommon situations,” read the same tweet.
Following the puppy's freedom, attending crew snapped a celebratory selfie.
